The following is our training schedule for 2008 including schools and seminars at our new          in-house training facility, field training sessions, and schools provided at our vendors' facilities.     Instromet Ultrasonic Gas Meter Seminar:              February 13, 2008

    This is a 1 day seminar including a basic introduction to ultrasonic meters and a classroom session.

    Basic Gas Distribution School: April 29- May 2, 2008

    This is a 3.5 day course covering basic gas terms and definitions, overviews of leak investigation and locating, line stopping/tapping, meter set installs, PE pipe fittings, construction, fusion and safety.

    Gas Measurement School: May 20-22, 2008

    This is a 2.5 day course focusing on the fundamentals of gas measurement.  Topics include function and handling of gas meters, sizing, pressure limits and capacities, pressure and temperature calculations, and explanation of errors caused by measurement loss.

    Gas Regulator School: September 9-11, 2008

    This is a 3 day course related to gas regulators.  Topics covered include function, construction, operation, capacities, and sizing of gas regulators as well as pertinent DOT and PSC regulations.  It is suggested that students attend our Gas Measurement School prior to enrolling for this course.

    Advanced Gas Valve School: October 7-9, 2008

    This is an advanced gas valve school designed for engineers and senior field technicians with responsibilities for pipeline and gate station valves.  Topics include; technical description, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting of ball, gate and plug type valves and valve actuation and controls (with hands-on).  Instructors are from Cameron/Grove, Ledeen, Val-Tex, and Avanti.

    Elster American Meter Measurement/Regulator School: October 7-9,  2008, Nashville, TN

    This is a 3 day course covering the fundamentals of measurement including all common types of meters; diaphragm, rotary, turbine, & ultrasonic as well as meter proving and the SNAP.  Also covered are the regulators; sizing, selection, and application including pressure protection.  There will be some hands-on sessions throughout the school.  Below is a link to a registration form and more detailed school description.

    Basic Corrosion School: November 11-14, 2008

    This is a 3.5 day course covering Ohm's law, electrical circuits, corrosion control methods, coatings, insulation, cathodic protection, impressed current protection, electrical shielding, stray current interference, AC mitigation, instruments for corrosion testing (hands-on), soil resistivity, measurement, current interrupter, pipe locater, short locators, thickness gauges, wire reel, half cells, insulation testers and codes-DOT and PSC.

    Advanced Gas Distribution School: Postponed Until Fall 2008 or Spring 2009, Dates TBD This is a new 3.5 day course.  It is highly suggested that Basic Gas Distribution be taken prior to this class.  The various topics covered include properties of gas, PPE, fire protection, maps, records, and drawings, system feeds, leak investigation and surveys, pipe locating, system protection, valves, tapping, stopping and safety, by-pass completion with cleanup and storage, new construction, construction equipment safety, gas theft and detection, new techniques, gas related incidents, make safe operations and basics of accident investigation.  Note that we are in need of instructors for this school.
